Kansas Salesperson Licensing Steps
The Kansas Real Estate Commission requires new license applicants to complete the following steps:Step 1: Register for Prelicense Courses
- Complete two required courses:

- 30-hour Principles of Real Estate
- 30-hour Kansas Practice Course

- If you are licensed in another state, you are only required to take the Kansas Practice Course.
Step 2: Create Your KREC Account & Apply for a PL Number
- Visit the Kansas Real Estate Commission Citizen Access Portal: https://aca-prod.accela.com/KANSAS/Default.aspx
- Select Salesperson Prelicensure, pay the $85 application fee and background check fee.
- Upon payment of your $85 fees, you will receive a Prelicense (PL) number.
- You must submit this number to Career Education Systems before completing your first course so that your course completion can be reported to KREC.
Step 3: Submit Fingerprints
- Schedule fingerprinting through an approved provider.
- Mail your fingerprint card as instructed by the Kansas Real Estate Commission: https://www.krec.ks.gov/
applicants/fingerprinting
Step 4: Pass the Licensing Exam
- Review the Candidate Handbook and exam outline before testing
Step 5: Submit Your License Application
- Submit your licensing application after receiving an email from the Kansas Real Estate Commission upon completion of your second required course, the Kansas 30-hour Practice Course.

- Complete the 30 hour Principles of Real Estate course.
- Create a KREC account and obtain your PL number
- Submit your PL number to Career Education Systems
- Pass the licensing exam
- Complete the 30-hour Kansas Practice Course
- Meet Kansas fingerprinting requirements: https://www.krec.ks.gov/applicants/fingerprinting.
Course Information:
- This course is an audio/visual presentation and includes 6 chapters.
- You may exit and return at any time. You may be prompted to enter your login credentials when re-entering.
- You must pass a final quiz consisting of 50 multiple choice questions. A score of 90% or higher is required. If you do not pass on your first attempt, an alternate version of the quiz will be available.
- IMPORTANT: You must provide your Prelicense (PL) Number to Career Education Systems before completing this course. Without it, your completion cannot be reported to the Kansas Real Estate Commission, and your licensing exam cannot be scheduled.
- After passing the quiz and submitting your PL number, you will be able to record your score and print your certificate.
- You must apply for a license within 1 year of completing this course.
- Once you pass the licensing exam, your score is valid for 6 months.
Exam Scheduling
Once your course completion is reported to the Kansas Real Estate Commission, Pearson VUE will email you instructions to schedule your exam. You do not need to call Pearson VUE directly. Click here for step-by-step licensing instructions.
